Dimapur, Jan. 6 (EMN): In view of non-interlocking works at New Jalpaiguri station of Katihar division under North Frontier Railway (NFR), five pairs of trains, journey commencing on January 7, will remain cancelled.
Apart from that, due to infrastructural development works between Shambhu – Rajpura Junction in Ambala Cantt. – Ludhiana Junction section of Northern Railway and at Dinkar Gram Simaria station in Sonpur division of East Central Railway, few trains will be diverted from existing route, NFR stated in an update.
On the other hand, it has been decided to operate a special train between New Tinsukia and Tambaram for single trip in both directions to clear extra rush of passengers during Makar Sankranti festival. It will help passengers travelling to and from southern parts of the country specially and clear the waitlisted passengers of other South-bound trains, it stated.

Cancellation of trains: Train no. 15710/15709 (New Jalapaiguri – Malda Town – New Jalpaiguri) Express, Train no. 15703/15704 (New Jalapaiguri – Bongaigaon – New Jalpaiguri) Express, Train no. 15777/15778 (New Jalpaiguri – Alipurduar Junction – New Jalpaiguri) Tourist Express, 05749/05750 (New Jalpaiguri – Haldibari – New Jalpaiguri) Passenger, 05751/05752 (New Jalpaiguri – Haldibari – New Jalpaiguri) Passenger, commencing journey on January 7, will remain cancelled.
Diversion of trains: Train No. 15667 (Gandhidham – Kamakhya) Express, commencing journey on January 7 will be diverted via Danapur – Patliputra – Hajipur – Shahpur Patoree – Barauni – Katihar. Train No. 13281 (Dibrugarh – Rajendra Nagar Terminal) Express, commencing journey on January 9, will be diverted via Khagaria – Sabdalpur – Munger – Kiul – Mokama.
Special Train: Train No. 06073 (Tambaram – New Tinsukia) Superfast Special will depart from Tambaram at 10:45 hours on January 8, to reach New Tinsukia at 19:35 hours on January 10. In return direction, Train No. 06074 (New Tinsukia – Tambaram) Superfast Special will depart from New Tinsukia at 20:20 hours on January 11 to reach Tambaram at 05:45 hours on January 14. The special train will consist of 23 coaches. There will be two AC 3-tier, 13 sleeper class, six general sitting coaches and two guard-cum-luggage vans. Wait listed passengers of other trains on this route can avail the opportunity, it stated.
