DIMAPUR — Students of North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) held an interaction session with the Dibrugarh University counterparts from Assam at the Peace Centre Hall on February 15.
An update from the university stated that the session began with a welcome address delivered by Jose Abraham, who shed light on the interconnection of NEISSR and Peace Channel and also highlighted on courses offered including computer, NITI and Vedhik IAS coaching.
It stated that Bristi Borgohain, assistant professor of Dibrugarh University, presented an insightful message emphasising the practical aspects of social work studies and the essential qualities for individual in the field. She also provided an overview of Dibrugarh University’s courses and extracurricular activities like forest, rural camps and study tours.
Meanwhile, Livino from Peace Channel conducted a session on peer mediation by elucidating its role in resolving conflicts among peers through a unique process and emphasised the qualities and skills required to be an effective mediator.
It was followed with hand-on practical session where students were divided into 10 groups. It stated that each group engaged in lively group discussions, brainstorming scenarios on how they would approach and resolve conflict situations using peer mediation techniques as a problem solving tool.
Following the discussion session, each group presented their ideas and strategies for resolving conflict through peer mediation. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Jose Abraham.
