NDPP, NPP candidates launch KMC election campaigns
KOHIMA — Khrielievi Chusi, the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) candidate for Ward 17 and Vizokhoto George Kirha, the National People’s Party (NPP) candidate for Ward 14, commenced their campaigns for the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) elections on Thursday in Kohima.
Ward 17 comprises the Agri, Forest, Mewibogei, Electrical, and Agri Farm colonies, while Ward 14 comprises the Poterlane and Old Ministers’ Hill colonies.
Speaking at the event at the AEF Council Hall junction, Khrielievi Chusi emphasised that his candidature is for the benefit of the entire colony, not just individuals.
He pledged to work towards inclusive development, environmental stewardship, quality public services, education and youth programmes, transparent governance, and health and social services.
Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor of School Education and State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), among others, campaigned for Chusi, appealing to the gathering to vote for him.
Speaking at the Old Ministers’ Hill colony, Vizokhoto George Kirha stressed the need for coordination and appealed for support, pledging effective representation for the community if elected.
He promised to offer microfinance to those in need, support water harvesting initiatives, and advocate for equality, transparency, and inclusivity.
George expressed his readiness to collaborate for the improvement of the ward and sought support to be their representative voice.
Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhütso, MLA from the 9 Kohima Town Assembly Constituency, among others, sought support for the candidate.
