NDPP media cell secretary resigns; to contest DMC election on Congress ticket
DIMAPUR — Secretary of media cell of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), Khrozote Kapfo has resigned from the NDPP and joined the Congress party after he was denied the NDPP ticket in the forthcoming Nagaland ULB election.
He will now be contesting the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) election from Ward-8 under Dimapur I assembly constituency, on a Congress ticket.
Addressing a press conference at Congress Bhavan, Dimapur on Tuesday, Kapfo said that he is also among the founding members of the NDPP in the state. He maintained that he had been loyal to the party in the hope that he would also one day contest the municipal elections on NDPP ticket.

Claiming that the NDPP had initially promised him party ticket, he said it was only at the eleventh hour during distribution of party tickets held on June 10 that he his name did not figure in the list.
He also alleged that only newly enrolled party members including “bureaucrats and rich people” were issued party tickets. On his decision to contest from Ward-8, Kapfo said that since there is “no development” in his ward, which consists of three colonies, he assured to bring development and much-needed changes if elected.
He asserted that even if the NDPP comes and offers him ticket to contest from another wad, he will not accept because his main goal is to bring changes in his ward.
He further claimed that many of his former NDPP co-workers from Dimapur I and II assembly seats will be following his footsteps and joining the Congress in a few days.
Dimapur District Congress Committee president Kutuho Chishi welcomed Kapfo to the party and assured to support for him in the municipal election.
