NCCAF to commemorate 10th anniversary

MOKOKCHUNG — The Nagaland Community Conserved Areas’ Forum (NCCAF) will be celebrating its 10th anniversary on November 19 in Khonoma village under Kohima district with Salhoutuonuo Kruse, minister of Women Resource Development, as the special guest.

The celebration is aimed at reflecting a decade of community-led conservation efforts and reaffirming commitment to protecting Nagaland’s natural heritage.

In an update, NCCAF chairman, Heirang Lungalang, informed that the milestone event is a tribute to the dedication of communities working together to preserve the environment. He added that the 10 year anniversary would feature two sessions, a formal session followed by experience sharing, focus group discussions and group discussion session by various community conserved areas in Nagaland.

It stated that ecotourism and livelihood, governance and institutional mechanism, sustainable biodiversity and research and capacity building are four topics that would be shared, while topics for focus group discussion would include the challenges and opportunities for youth and women in conservation, sustainable development goals and challenges for CCAs and policy governance and management of CCA.

The celebration would be attended by members from community conserved areas from across the state.
