DIMAPUR— A total of 520 NNC cadets from Kohima, Dimapur, Mokokchung, Mon, Tuensang, Longleng, Shamator, Noklak, Wokha, Peren, Chuümoukedima and Kiphire districts are participating at the combined mega annual training camp being organised in Wokha.
An update from 25 Naga battalion NCC stated that the cadets, on their arrival, were screened for COVID-19 before being allowed into the camp. A team of paramedics from the District Hospital, Wokha, carried out a health checkup of the cadets.
It stated that the day started with a mass yoga demonstration led by yoga teachers from Vivekanand Kendra Vidyalaya headed by Capt. Irshad Hussain from 40 Assam Rifles. A defence release stated that more than 500 cadets, associate NCC officers, permanent instructors and Assam Rifles jawans took part in the yoga practice.
The opening address of the camp was delivered by Col. CST Swamy, camp commander and commanding officer of 25 Naga Bn NCC. The basic tenets of discipline and the importance of various training activities planned for the cadets were highlighted by the officer.
The camp commandant informed the students that, apart from the regular NCC training, personality development of the cadets would be the main focus area.
It informed that manners and etiquettes, public speaking, awareness about blood donation, prevention of HIV/AIDS, career counseling etc would be imparted during the training.
Stating that NCC is coordinating with industry leaders in providing training at subsidised costs and placement of NCC ‘C’ certificate holders in airline, hospitality and security industries, he called upon the cadets to avail the opportunity.
The camp commandant also informed the gathering that career guidance for National Defence Academy (NDA), Combined Defence Services (CDS) and NCC special entry scheme would also be provided during the camp.
The formal programme was followed with a health awareness camp, wherein Dr. NzanthungNguillie, pathologist from District Hospital, Wokha, made an audio-visual presentation on benefits of voluntary blood donation. He urged the young cadets to come forward and save at least four lives every time they donate blood.
Report further stated that large number of students came forward to donate their blood.
