NAP (IR) personnel deaths: Western Sumi Hoho seeks government attention
DIMAPUR — Following the tragic deaths of three police personnel from the 10th Nagaland Armed Police (IR) Battalion due to heatstroke while on election duty in Bihar, the Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) has urged special attention from both the central and state governments.
The WSH emphasised the need for attention to cases where jawans on official duty representing the state government face unfortunate incidents. It stressed that in the event of any such incidents, quick and efficient measures should be in place.
In a press release, mentioning the recent deaths in Bihar, it said that the news of their tragic demise has left the community in deep mourning and shock.
“In addition, it was so distressing to learn that the bodies of our jawans reached home very late on the third day only, prolonging the agony of the grieving family members,” it read.
Therefore, it urged the state government to take immediate action in the future, such as arranging a chopper or a special ambulance to ensure the bodies of the jawans are brought back home without delay.
“Such gestures of respect and compassion would honour the sacrifice made by our jawans and officers in the line of duty and also their bereaved families,” it concluded.
