DIMAPUR— As part of ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign, a coordination meeting was held in Kohima and Niuland on Thursday. The campaign would be launched from August 9 to the 15th as part of the culmination of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.’
In Kohima, the coordination meeting was convened by the deputy commissioner of Kohima, Shanavas C, in his office’s conference hall. He informed that the Government of India has announced ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh‘ campaign to mark the culminating of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,’ stated a DIPR report.
Shanavas informed that the campaign envisages paying tributes to ‘Veers’ (brave hearts) by erecting memorials in all villages/ towns in the country to express their gratitude, conduct ceremonies by hoisting the national flags, take pledge by holding a fistful of soil (mitti), plant tree saplings along with ‘Mitti Yatra’ from all the blocks leading to the final event at Delhi.
He has highlighted on the concept note of the campaign and the proposed dates to be conducted in village/ town levels, block level and larger urban local bodies/ municipalities and sought active participation from all the concerned departments in their respective areas to make the programme a success.
The meeting further deliberated on the work assignments allotted to various departments and worked out the action plan for smooth and successful conduct of the campaign in the district.
Similar meeting was also held in Niuland chaired by the SDO of Niuland, Relise Sangtam. Speaking at the meeting, Sangtam informed that various activities would be conducted both at village and block levels across the district. He stated that monoliths would be erected in every village as part of the campaign. He added that the event be would marked with planting of tree saplings in all the villages.
