Two persons arrested with drugs
DIMAPUR — Excise personnel manning the Khuzama inter-state check gate seized 570 gram of suspected heroin worth INR 1.7 crore at street value on June 27. An update from the assistant commissioner of Excise, Vithoselie Terhuja, stated that the seizure was made from the cabin of a truck bearing registration No. NL07A-7955 consisting 57 soap cases containing suspected heroin. It added that two persons identified as Rohit Rai and Ranjit Rai, both driver and handyman of the vehicle, were arrested and a case has been registered under NDPS Act ‘85.
WSH extends solidarity with ESH
Western Smi Hoho (WSH) has expressed solidarity with the Eastern Sumi Hoho (ESH) in their decision to observe a peace rally on June 29 in Seyochung town. In this regard, WSH has appealed to all the churches in the western Sumi area to have a special prayer to seek God’s wisdom, direction and guidance to solve the present imbroglio in a best possible way.
Zunheboto to celebrate green festival
The deputy commissioner of Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali, has informed that Miss Sumi 2022 under the aegis ‘Seize the silver dreams’ would celebrate ‘Green Festival’ on June 1 in Zunheboto town. As part of the celebration, he informed that a plantation drive would be carried out on June 30 from 6 am onwards. In this regard, the deputy commissioner has requested the denizens to participate in the celebration by planting trees and cleaning the surroundings for a greener and cleaner Zunheboto.
Job fair held in Kohima
The Directorate of Employment Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, in association with the National Career Service Centre for SC/ST, Ministry of Labour and Employment (DGE), Kohima, and Tusti Foundation, Guwahati, conducted a job fair on June 26 at the directorate of Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Building, ITI complex, High School Road, Kohima. A DIPR report stated that Deltin Company from Goa came for recruitment wherein 45 job seekers participated in the interview. It added that seven job seekers were given on-the-spot offer letters and six candidates were shortlisted for the second round of interviews.
Unidentified body recovered
Following written memo from the station manager of Dimapur railway station about one unidentified body of Non-Naga, aged around 50-60 years, lying dead at the railway track KM No. 260/3 on Wednesday, the personnel from Government Railway Police Station (GRPS) rushed to site and conducted inquest over the dead body. A police report issued by the deputy commissioner of police (crime) and PRO stated that the deceased was suspected to be a beggar and no foul play could be established. It added that the body was shifted to Dimapur District Hospital morgue for post mortem examination and identification. Relatives and friends of the deceased are requested to contact the officer-in-charge of GRPS, Dimapur, on mobile No. 7085055021 for further information.
FGN condoles demise of its tatar
Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has condoled the demise of its senior tatar, K Raikha from Talui village under Wung region, who passed away on June 28 at his resident in Diphupar under Angami region. Kedahge of FGN, Gen. (retired) Viyalie Metha, stated that K Raikhan joined the national service in 1962 and served in various capacities in the region and was later nominated as tatar in 1970. Metha has described him as a dedicated leader and a true patriot, who was also a recipient of ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ and ‘National Service Award A.’ While lamenting the loss, Metha stated that his true sacrifice and patriotic services rendered to the national cause would always remain alive in the history of the nation. He has further conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed for peace of the departed soul.
NSCN (Niki) terminates cadre
The ministry of kilo affairs of the Niki Sumi-led NSCN/GPRN has terminated its leacy, Lumdamo Lotha from New Changsu village under Lotha region from active national service for violation of yezabo of NSCN/GPRN. An NSCN’s statement through its MIP stated that the termination notice was issued against Lumdamo for his alleged involvement in anti-national activities. It added that the termination order would come into force with immediate effect.
DAYO extends support to police
Acknowledging that policing and maintaining law and order cannot be successful without the public participation, the Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO) has affirmed to continue extending its cooperation with the Police department as partners in addressing the problems of criminal activities especially on the menace of rampant extortions and drug trafficking. This was made known to the Director General of Police (DGP) of Nagaland, Rupin Sharma, during its meeting on June 27. It stated that the DGP has also highlighted the new initiative to address crime detection/ report to check extortion, drugs trafficking and other crimes through the participation of the citizens as those menaces only retards the growth and progress of the state and society. DAYO further appealed to all citizens to extend full co-operate with the police to ensure a safe and better Nagaland.
Patton conveys Id-Ul-Zuha greetings
Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton, has greeted the Muslim community on the occasion of Id-Ul-Zuha. Patton has termed Eid as an important festival as it signifies sacrifice and obedience to God. Patton expressed hope that the celebration would usher in joy and happiness.
