AR conducts lecture on endangered species
DIMAPUR — The Assam Rifles (AR) conducted a lecture on awareness about endangered species on the theme “Shoot Us With Cameras Not Guns” at Indo-Myanmar border village Mimi. A total of 35 students and seven teachers from Christian school in the village attended the lecture on bison, peacock and other species facing existential threat due to habitat destruction, climate change, poaching, and other human activities.
Awareness prog. on alcohol, substance abuse
DIMAPUR — The Department of Social Welfare organised an awareness programme for alcohol and substance abuse at work place, corporate offices and etiquette to drivers at the department on Friday, with Dr. Sungtimen M.O, NHAK, Kohima speaking on ill effects of alcohol and drug abuse; legal consultant Apila on the etiquette of a driver; welcome address delivered by Director of Social Welfare, Tosheli Zhimomi; and sharing of testimony by driver Jhatak Bahadur. An update from DIPR informed that all drivers employed under the Directorate of Social Welfare, District Offices, Projects and Directorate attended the awareness programme.
KPC condoles demise of former member
DIMAPUR — The Kohima Press Club (KPC) has expressed grief over the demise of its former member Martemjen Imsong on Friday. Describing him a young and vibrant person who had deep respect and concern for his media colleagues, the KPC prayed that the departed soul rest in peace. It also conveyed condolences to his family members and prayed that the Almighty God grant them solace as they face the painful loss.
Fire affected families given relief fund
DIMAPUR — The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pughoboto, Tiameren Chang, on Friday handed over relief fund to Anjeli Dey of Pughoboto Town and Into Sema of Mishilimi Village at its office after verifying the damage caused by the fire on February 10 this year. The relief was issued by the deputy commissioner and chairman of District Disaster Management Authority, Zunheboto, said an update from DIPR.
DPDB Noklak meeting on May 22
DIMAPUR — Deputy Commissioner of Noklak, Arikumba has informed that the monthly meeting of District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), Noklak will be held on May 22 at 11 am, in his office conference hall. Therefore, the members of DPDB have been requested to attend the meeting.
NBSE develops teaching and learning materials
DIMAPUR —The NBSE has informed all the heads of registered institutions that it has developed Teaching and Learning Materials (TLMs) of Social Sciences and Science subjects of Class 10, designed to enrich the educational experiences of students and to enhance educational framework by providing comprehensive support to both teaching and learning processes and for remedial measures. It can be downloaded from NBSE portal https://www.nbsenl.edu.in (under Information- Curriculum & Syllabus). The heads of registered institutions have been requested to inform the subject teachers and students to avail the facility.
Monsoon preparedness meeting on May 20
DIMAPUR — A monsoon preparedness meeting will be held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Kohima on May 20 at 11 am, under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister and the Chairman of the NSDMA, said an update from DIPR. The department of PWD (R&B), HG, CD&SDRE, Food & Civil Supplies and Health & Family Welfare have been requested to submit an infrastructure maintenance report and give a presentation of 5-6 slides each on monsoon preparedness measures by the department concerned. Minister-in-charges and advisor-in-charges of various departments, Commissioner & Secretary of various departments, Chief Secretary, DGP and a host of other officials have been asked to attend the meeting.
