ILP verification drive conducted in Mon town
DIMAPUR — The Mon district administration, along with police, conducted an Inner Line Permit (ILP) verification drive in and around Mon town on July 20. The officials and police personnel were divided into three teams headed by SDO Echungbemo Erui, EAC HQ, Tshelhiu and EAC Sadar, T Imlongchaba Chang, to check illegal immigrants and defaulters, a DIRP report stated. Defaulters without valid pass or carrying expired ILP were penalised. The teams also informed that the ILP verification drive will be conducted periodically to check on illegal immigrants and defaulters within Mon district.
DNSU condemns July 18 shooting incident
DIMAPUR — The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has condemned the July 18 shooting incident at NST colony in Dimapur, where an employee of Ankit Roadlines Transport was injured. In a condemnation note, the union said that “such dastardly and cowardly acts” do not deserve any place in a civilised society. “DNSU is shocked at the audacity of the perpetrators, shooting of innocent, unarmed civilians in broad daylight bereft of any humanity and civility. DNSU is deeply perturbed by the rising cases of dacoity and violence by anti-social elements,” it stated. The union appealed to the law enforcing agencies to leave no stone unturned to book the perpetrators.
ENPO condoles demise of Angh Aching Chahwang
DIMAPUR — The Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) conveyed its deepest condolences to the bereaved Anghghou of Chi-Pongyin/Pongwen on the sudden death of Angh Late Aching Chahwang, who died on July 22. In a condolence note, it said that his sudden death had left a big vacuum not only for the Chi-Pongyin but also for the entire age-old ancestral and customary institution of the eastern Nagas in particular, and the Nagas in general. The organisation prayed that the next heir to the Chi-Anghghou would uphold the sceptre of faith and truth while governing his subjects.
