FGN condoles demise of its vice president
DIMAPUR — Kedahge of the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN), Gen. (retired) Viyalie Metha, has condoled the demise of its vice president, L Kaiso from Pfosemei village under Shepoumaramth region, who passed away on June 22 at Lerie Colony in Kohima. Metha stated that Kaiso joined the national service in 1964 and steadfastly served the nation in various capacities and added that he was a recipient of ‘Nagaland Star’ (highest award of the Naga nation). Metha has described him as a true patriot, who faithfully served the nation till his last breath. While lamenting the loss, Metha stated that his true sacrifice and valuable services rendered to the nation would always remain alive in the annals of the nation. He further conveyed condolence to the bereaved family and prayed for peace of the departed soul.
Spring water reservoir tank inaugurated in New Jalukie
A spring water reservoir tank was inaugurated on June 20 by Tingsangai John Panmei, chairman of watershed management committee. The tank was constructed jointly by the Land Resources department and New Jalukie Village Council under PMKSY WDC 2.0 scheme. An update from the village council stated that the Duiluango reservoir is the lifeline of the villagers, which can cater to about 500 to 600 households with clean and hygienic water that is safe for drinking. Meanwhile, the village council has thanked Avinou and her family for donating a portion of land for constructing of the said reservoir.
Tuensang district organises social work
With the onset of monsoon season, Tuensang district conducted a mass social on June 23. Activities such as clearing of drainage, collection of waste material and clearing of landslide in the town were carried during the social work. It was supervised by district administration led by the deputy commissioner of Tuensang, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa. All the departments in the district, residents of various wards and students participated in the social work.
DoTE convenes SCSB meeting
Directorate of Technical Education has convened a meeting of the state common selection board (SCSB) on June 27 in its conference hall at 12 noon for selection of candidates to fill up Nagaland state reserved seats in para medical/ agri and allied course during 2023-24 based on the merit of Nagaland State Entrance Examination (NSEE) 2023. The board members including the commissioner and secretary of Higher and Education and Technical Education, principal director of Health and Family Welfare, director of Agriculture, director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sciences, director of Horticulture, director of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, director of Sericulture, chief conservator of Forest, director of Information and Public Relations, and director of Technical Education to attend the meeting.
Tovihoto flags off bike yatra
Advisor of Tribal Affairs and Election, H Tovihoto Ayemi, has flagged off the bike yatra organised by BJYM Nagaland at Naga Shopping Arcade on Friday morning. The event was organised to mark the 9th anniversary of BJP government in the country. Flagging off the rally, Tovihoto stated that the event was organised to create awareness to the public on the attainment of nine years BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He added that the event was aimed at disseminating information on the various programmes and benefits the BJP has outlined for the welfare of the people. An update from the press secretary to the advisor stated that the yatra would cover all the constituencies.
Joint Panchayat of Ward 16 inducts new team
The Joint Panchayat of Ward No. 16 under Kohima municipality held its handing and taking over of charge programme on June 19 at New Reserve Panchayat Hall. The Joint Panchayat of Ward 16 comprises four panchayats/ colonies namely New Minister’s Hill, Lerie, New Reserve and Leiriechazou. With the completion of the tenure of the incumbent team, a new team was officially inducted headed by Vikehiekho Kintso as chairman and Thepfuneisa Sileo as general secretary, both representing New Reserve Panchayat. As per the standing norm of the Joint Panchayat, it stated that the chairmen and secretaries of the other three panchayats would continue as official members of the joint panchayat.
