CPU to undertake ‘on-the-spot verification’

DIMAPUR — Chairman of the Committee on Public Undertakings (CPU) Imkong L Imchen, MLA, has proposed to undertake an ‘on-the-spot verification’ to inspect multi-level car parking at the Old Medical Directorate, Kohima and multi-level car parking at the Old NST, Kohima on Aug. 30 at 11 am. All the members of the committee have been requested to make it convenient to join the visit, the Nagaland Assembly Secretariat stated in an update.

ZSUN condoles demise of ZPO unit president

DIMAPUR — The Zeliangrong Students’ Union Nagaland (ZSUN) has condoled the demise of Kwetsong Siaraung, president of the Zeliang People’s Organisation (ZPO), Chümoukedima, who passed away on Aug. 25. In a condolence message, the ZSUN said late Siaraung was also the founding member of the Zeliangrong Baptist Church, Chümoukedima, and former chairman of the Zeliangrong Union from 2012–2019. “His contributions went beyond mere leadership; he embodied the values of service, integrity, and compassion. His efforts have profoundly shaped the path for future generations, and his legacy will be remembered with great respect and admiration,” the condolence message read.

DC Zunheboto notifies on mental health campaign

DIMAPUR — Deputy Commissioner of Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali, has informed that there will be a mass awareness campaign on ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ and mental health on Aug. 28 at 10 am at Multipurpose Hall, Zunheboto. In a notification, the DC stated that substance abuse and mental health among youths are of great concern. Hence, the campaign seeks to make them aware of the associated hazards, a DIPR report stated. He appealed to the general public, especially the youths of Zunheboto, to be a part of the campaign.

Ceasefire Day on September 6

DIMAPUR — The Ministry of Rali Wali, Federal Government of Nagaland, has informed that the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC), the Naga National Council (NNC) and the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) will observe the 61st Indo-Naga Ceasefire Day on September 6 at 10 am at Peace Hall, Chedema Peace Camp, Chedema. All the peace-loving people have been cordially invited to participate in the function.

NITI Academy launches classes led by IITians

DIMAPUR — The faculties of NITI Academy, Dimapur, have begun Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics classes on Monday for medical and engineering aspirants aiming for top institutions in the country. According to a press statement, the NITI faculty members—Ashwin Madhukar Nandeshwar and Yogendra Rathore (Biology), Jaydeep Pandit and Sarbikhoi Terang (Physics), Naveen Kharb (Chemistry), and Md. Salim (Mathematics)—are all IITians from Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam, Haryana, and Kerala, respectively. The senior-most faculty member, Dr. Abdul Hafeez (Biology and Organic Chemistry) from JNU, is the academic director of NITI Academy and hails from Delhi.
