Kohima, Sep. 10 (EMN):
Deputy Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly, T Yangseo Sangtam told students to be diligent and work hard as there is ‘barely any place for an average person’ in this competitive and digital era.

‘God has gifted each one of us with gifts and talents and none is left out. Therefore, one should explore one’s talents and give 100 per cent to excel in that,’ he said while addressing the Konyak Students’ Union, Kohima (KSUK) 37th fresher’s meet on the theme ‘Confluence through education’ at State Academy hall in Kohima on Saturday.

Asserting that everyone cannot get a government job, he encouraged the students to work hard as there is no substitute to it.

‘In life, one will cross countless paths and be faced with different situations but the choice is yours,’ he said.

Sangtam also told the students to be careful, watchful, and vigilant in the choices they make. ‘Whatever you do today, the efforts you put in today will have a greater impact for the rest of your life,’ he added.

‘Living in an advanced and competitive era, one should be careful with gadgets. They become part and parcel of our lives and we cannot do away with them. However, one should not abuse the gadgets or be a slave to them,’ said Sangtam.

‘As human beings, we become selfish and neither try to motivate nor encourage one another which is why Nagas are lagging behind in all aspects,’ he said while telling while pointing out the need to encourage one another.

He also said that Konyaks are the “eldest” among the eastern Nagas, and therefore, have a bigger responsibility to shoulder the issues that lie ahead.

Chairman of Nagaland Public Service Commission, Honje Konyak was the guest speaker of the programme and KSUK President M Honli Konyak delivered the presidential address.
