Nagaland In-Service Doctors’ Association to go on mass causal leave from March 7
Dimapur, Feb. 27 (EMN): Nagaland In-Service Doctors’ Association (NIDA) on Sunday informed that all its members would go on mass casual leave from March 7 to the 9th followed by total cease of work and mass resignations.
In a statement issued on Sunday, NIDA said that the move was necessitated following the failure of the government to resolve the issue of superannuation age of medical doctors.
“The Government had given a written assurance to the NIDA on April 17, 2021 through the office of the Chief Secretary that ‘the Government is actively considering the matter relating to the increase in the superannuation age of Medical Doctors and offered to resolve the matter within a period not exceeding one year’. Now more than 10 months have elapsed and the deadline given for resolving the issue is fast approaching but nothing concrete has been conceptualised,’ it read.
It said that only a month and a half was left for the deadline, and therefore the association had ‘no option at its disposal except to resort to more aggressive means’.
NIDA further demanded a full-fledged principal secretary/ commissioner and secretary to be posted exclusively for Health and Family Welfare department for the smooth functioning and timely resolution of issues including the superannuation issue.
