Nagaland government announces big changes in medical front line personnel to combat pandemic
Dimapur, March 31 (EMN): The Nagaland government has taken a number of significant decisions in the medical and health departments to add to current efforts to combat the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
Among the changes that the government has announced are service extensions to retiring medical and health personnel, filling posts, and engaging health personnel regardless of cadre strength.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio twitted on Tuesday important decisions that the Nagaland Cabinet took in regard to action plans against the pandemic.
The main decisions of the Nagaland Cabinet to prevent and control the Covid-19 pandemic:
* Medical personnel such as doctors, nurses, technicians, and paramedics who may be retiring but whose services may be required and are willing, will be allowed to continue service for a period of 3 months. This is subject to review as the situation arises, Rio stated.
* The department of Health & Family Welfare is allowed to fill existing vacancies of doctors, nurses and paramedics on contingency basis.
* The department of Health & Family Welfare has been authorised to engage medical personnel as and when need arises regardless of sanctioned cadre strength for a fixed period to tide over the crisis.
* All appointments of medical personnel are to be done transparently and on strict terms and conditions to ‘avoid future complications,’ the tweet stated.
‘The criteria and the manner of such engagement and the level of approvals for various categories shall be finalised by the chief secretary,’ the updates added.
