KOHIMA — Pointing out that Nagaland can do better in the infrastructure and courses on animation programme, the under secretary to the Government of Nagaland, I Changsang, on Wednesday expressed hope that a full-fledged animation school would be set up in the state soon.

He stated this during the farewell programme of the first batch and orientation of the second batch of the Animation and Graphic Academy (AGA) under the Investment Development Authority of Nagaland and MMB Cyber School at Capital Convention Centre in Kohima.

The official said that Nagaland has many imaginative minds and the animation course by AGA is the right place to start. He added that the academy was started as the state does not have any animation academy in spite of so many talents and ideas.

He informed that the course offered by the academy was basic but it provided the students with extra hours training and assignments to practice at home. He said they have a dream to convert the simple programme into a full-fledged academy.

The official encouraged all the passed out students to work hard in their ventures and also told them to come back and assist the academy whenever required.

He further informed that they are in the process of negotiating with companies to give placements to the passing students.

“Once the agreement takes off, they would be signing with them very soon,” Changsang said.

IDAN consultant, Namang T Chang, said that AGA programme is a corporate social responsibility programme and has been made possible by the IDAN for students interested in animation and graphics for free of cost.

He said IDAN is playing the main role by bringing three donors namely Alembic Pharmaceutical, APAR Industries, BOEING India, which has helped in making the project possible.

He further informed that they are collaborating to bring in multiple CSR donors to upgrade the animation and graphic academy and expressed hope that there would be more donors in the future

Outgoing students, Seyiekielie Mere and Victor Mocha, said the course had upgraded their knowledge and enhanced their career opportunities in just three months.

IDAN CSR manager, Chichanbeni Kithan, delivered the closing remarks.
