Nagaland Congress to constitute development monitoring committees
DIMAPUR — Nagaland lone Lok Sabha member, S Supongmeren Jamir, on Wednesday informed that the Congress party has resolved to set up development monitoring committees at all level of the party organisations in the state.
According to Jamir, the committee would act as watchdog to maintain check and balance to ensure accountability and transparency on the utilisation of central funds meant for the development of the state.
He disclosed this during a meeting with the leaders of Rengma Hoho in Tseminyu town on Wednesday, state an update from NPCC communication department.
During the interaction, the MP extended his profound gratitude to the esteemed gathering for electing him to the 18th Lok Sabha and conceded that his victory would not have been possible without the Almighty’s divine intervention.
Acknowledging the weight of the responsibilities that came with the mandate, he has assured to leave no stone unturned in preserving and protecting the Naga people’s identity and way of life.
Drawing attention to the demerits of an opposition-less government, he has questioned the aversion of legislators to sit in the opposition bench. He has termed it as a tragedy for the common people of Nagaland, which tantamount to the murder of representational democracy of the land.
