Nagaland Congress launches donation drive for Lok Sabha election
DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has launched the ‘Donate for Congress’ drive, a crowd-funding initiative towards the electoral campaign fund for party candidate S Supongmeren Jamir, who is contesting the state’s lone Lok Sabha seat.
Launching the campaign on Monday, the NPCC stated that the freezing of Congress party’s bank accounts is not just an act of inter-party political upmanship by the union government but also an assault on the democratic rights of the common people of India. It said that the ‘Donate for Congress’ campaign, besides the financial contract aspect, “is an invitation to the voters of Nagaland to register their protest against this wrong, and reassert the centrality of the electorates on the representational democratic processes mandated under our Constitution”.
The NPCC appealed to all the supporters and well-wishers of the Congress party as well as all right-thinking citizens of Nagaland who believes in the preservation of a free and fair playing field in the electioneering process, to contribute generously, and make it count.
