KOHIMA — The Nagaland Cabinet led by the Chief Minister, has convened a meeting with the Eastern Nagaland Gazetted Officers’ Association (ENGOA), other senior state government officials and holders of important offices from eastern Nagaland. The meeting is scheduled to take place on April 4, at 3 pm in the Conference Hall of the Chief Minister’s Residential Complex in Kohima, according to a notice issued by the state Home department’s political branch on Wednesday.
The notice also listed a total of 23 officials as well as seven office bearers of the ENGOA, requesting their presence at the meeting.
This development follows the meeting between the Eastern Nagaland Peoples Organisation (ENPO) and Eastern Nagaland Legislators Union (ENLU) in Tuensang on March 28. The ENPO reaffirmed its commitment to the Chenmoho Resolution passed on February 23, asserting that it would refrain from participating in any state or central election, till a settlement on the Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT) is arrived at.
The ENPO then upped the ante on April 1 by writing to the Election Commission of India (ECI), conveying the eastern Nagaland people’s collective decision to abstain from participating in the 18th Lok Sabha election, for which the state will go to polls on April 19.
