The Nagas Unity in Delhi, Naga Students Union Delhi (NSUD), Eastern Nagaland Students Union Delhi (ENSUD), Ao Students Union Delhi, Lotha Students Union Delhi and Nagaland House Staff Delhi jointly organized the Nagas Sports Meet from 1st – 4th April 2016 at Jawaharlal Nehru Campus Ground New Delhi under the theme “One Nagas One Sports” where the prize money was sponsored by MP (Lok Sabha) and Former Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio.
Students were divided into nine teams with two communities in each team and Nagaland House Staff as one team.
Men football champion team was bagged by Shilloi House (Tangkhul & Tarao), runners up by Chathe House (Poumai & Moyon). Men volleyball Champion was won by Tereguvu House (Zeliangrong & Chiru) and the runners up by Shilloi House (Tangkhul & Tarao). Women volleyball champion was bagged by Chethe House (Poumai & Moyon) and the runners up by Shiroi House (Lamkang & Rengma).
The overall team champion was Shilloi House (Tangkhul & Tarao). Various other games like arm wrestling, tug-of-war, basketball, high jump and long jump were also played.
After a gap of 16 years Naga Students in Delhi had come together for combined sports meet. The Unity, integrity among the Nagas Students and the whole Naga Community was displayed. A press note by the PRO stated that more than two thousand students participated in the sports meet. The students leader expressed that they are looking for more such activities in the days to come.
