Naga society needs more professional social workers — Johnny Ruangmei
DIMAPUR — Johnny Ruangmei, Joint CEO of Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority and president of the Catholic Association of Nagaland (CAN), stated that the Naga society needs more professional social workers to bring fast and planned development to both urban and rural settings of Nagaland and the north-east region.
According to a press release, speaking as the chief guest during the farewell ceremony of the graduating Master of Social Work (MSW) students of the North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) on June 1 at its premises in Chümoukedima, Ruangmei also urged students to integrate their lives with modern technology.
He emphasised the importance of embracing creativity, innovation, and inclusivity to navigate the complexities of modern social issues and find solutions to them.
Dr. Fr. C P Anto, principal of NEISSR, focused on the values and principles of NEISSR and the social work profession in his speech. He advised the graduates to remain principled, compassionate, loving, non-judgmental, and non-discriminatory in all their approaches.
He also stressed the importance of continually updating their knowledge and skills as social work professionals and maintaining the right attitude to serve society.
The event also featured a series of cultural performances showcasing the diverse talents of the students.
