Mon district observes ‘Anti-dengue month’

DIMAPUR — The National Center for Vector Borne Diseases Control (NCVBDC), Mon, observed ‘Anti-dengue month’ from July 1 to the 31st with the slogan ‘Zero mosquitoes, zero dengue.’

The goal of the campaign was to minimise the health, economic and social impact of disease by reversing the rising trend of dengue, stated an update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Mon.

As it was the outbreak of dengue in Mon district last year, the teams mainly focused on reducing mosquito habitat by removing sources of stagnant water by giving thorough awareness to the community. The teams also shared the signs and symptoms, treatment and to regularly use long-lasting insecticide nets (LLIN).

Report stated that malaria inspectors, surveillance inspectors, surveillance workers, malaria technical supervisors, DEO and ASHAs carried out the activities in 50 villages and 11 wards of Mon town led by the district vector borne officer, Dr. Abenthung Murry.
