Dimapur, Aug. 20 (EMN): Members of the Mokokchung District TB Forum held a meeting in the conference hall of the chief medical officer’s (CMO) office on August 18.
Delivering the welcome addressing, the CMO of Mokokchung, Dr. Limatula Aier, encouraged the members for an interactive and productive meeting keeping in mind the ultimate goal of eliminating Tuberculosis by the year 2025, stated an update from the CMO’s office.
The deputy CMO, Dr. Aonungdok, gave a brief introduction on the formation and purpose of District TB Forum.
It stated that district TB officer, Dr. R Toshila Jamir, made a powerpoint presentation on the objectives of TB Forum, terms of reference of the District TB Forum, and also highlighted on the National Strategic Plan 2017-25 for ending of TB in India as well as the “TB Harega Desh Jeetega” campaign, which was launched on September 25, 2019.
She also presented a detailed statistical slide on the TB scenario and achievement of the district.
Longdiba L Sangtam, SDO (C), has congratulated the DPO and team for achieving the highest district wise TB score for Nagaland during January- June quarter 2022. He also expressed concern on the alarming scenario of TB in India.
He further urged the District TB Forum to actively contribute in the elimination of TB by the year 2025 as proposed by the government of India.
In a short speech, Dr. Medemmayang, president of Indian Medical Association, Mokokchung unit, lauded the initiatives of the government of India in tackling TB and making services available to the needy. He encouraged all to come together and work stating that healthcare workers alone cannot fight to eliminate TB.
The meeting was attended by representatives/ staff from district administration, CMO’s office, IMDH, TB Hospital, Care and Support Society and NMP+.
