DIMAPUR — Member of Nagaland Legislative Assembly (MLA) and chairman of Bhandari Sub-divisional Planning and Development Board (SDPDB), Achumbemo Kikon, on Thursday inaugurated Tongti village in Yanmhon area under Bhandari sub-division and the monolith stone was dedicated by Rev. Fr. George Antony, parish priest of Sacred Heart Church, Bhandari town.
Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton, also attended the village inauguration programme hosted the Tokhu Emong celebration. In his brief speech, Patton emphasised the importance of unity and forgiveness.
The special guest of the festival, Achumbemo Kikon, shared the developmental initiatives undertaken in the Bhandari constituency.
He was accompanied by Peter Lichamo, retired Home secretary, and Renphamo Kikon, retired additional director of Agriculture.
The celebration programme was led by Thungdemo Tungoe, chairman of Ruchan village council, while an invocation prayer was said by Samuel Mozhui from Longjung village and cultural dance was performed by members of Liphi village cultural troupe.
Exhortation was delivered by Mathew Humtsoe, president of YAPO, while Tachow Lotha, chairman of BTLH, shared the significance of Tokhü Emong and a song was performed by Yantsuthung Yanthan.
The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Chenirao Khenchung, former president of YAPO.
