Minister Kruse, organisations condemn fatal assault case in Kohima
DIMAPUR — Condemnations have poured in over the shocking physical assault on Kezhalelie Lawrence Miasalhou and his son Thejavizo B Miasalhou by two youths on the evening of May 18 at Phoolbari, Kohima.
Kezhalelie Miasalhou, who was the president of Mezomia Mechü Kehou and also the PA to the deputy commissioner of Kohima, succumbed to his injuries after the assault by the two youths identified as Neizosetuo Kire and Khrietsonyü Whuorie, both from Kohima village.

Minister Salhoutuonuo Kruse
Minister for Women Resource Development and Horticulture, Salhoutuonuo Kruse has expressed deep anguish over the “senseless attack” on Miasalhou and said the “deplorable act of violence that has robbed our community of a respected leader.”
“I vehemently condemn the criminal actions of the perpetrators who have committed this heinous crime in grave violation of the law,” the minister said in a condemnation note.
While urging the law enforcement agencies to immediately investigate the matter and ensure that the culprits are brought to justice without delay, Kruse also extended deepest sympathy to the family of the deceased and prayed the Almighty to grant them strength to cope with the loss.
Angami Women Organisation
The Angami Women Organisation (AWO) has expressed shock over the inhuman brutality meted to an elderly and respected leader. “That the incident has taken place in broad day light and in the middle of Kohima town has not only shamed the Angamis but has also tarnished the good image of the capital of Nagaland,” the AWO stated in a press release.
“The AWO condemn the heinous act and urge upon the competent authority to deliver justice to the victim without delay. The AWO also convey our deepest sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family and stand in support with them at this time of grief and sorrow,” it stated.
The AWO also appealed to all concerned to remain calm and refrain from any action that may aggravate the situation.
Kohima Village Council
Condemning the “inhuman act” committed by Neizosetuo Kire and Khrietsonyü Whuorie, the Kohima Village Council requested the law enforcement agencies to “expedite the investigation so that justice is not delayed and book the culprits under the appropriate section of law and give exemplary punishments of the highest order.” The KVC also conveyed deepest sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family members of late Miasalhou.
Kohima Village Youth Organisation
The Kohima Village Youth Organisation (KVYO) has denounced the “appalling physical assault” on Late Kezhalelie Lawrence Miasalhou and his son.
“The two perpetrators Neizosetuo Kire and Khrietsonyü Whuorie of Kohima village after their despicable act, ruthlessly left Kezhalelie Lawrence Miasalhou unconscious which ultimately led to his demise,” the KVYO stated in a press release.
The youth organisation affirmed that it will render its services in any capacity to bring about justice to the victim and his family, and appealed to the law enforcing agencies to expedite the investigation and book the culprits under appropriate section of law.
The KVYO further conveyed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed that the departed soul rest in eternal peace.
Meanwhile, the Northern Angami Public Organisation (NAPO) has also condemned the brutal incident and appealed the concerned authority to look into the matter and punish the culprit with laws of the land.
Angami Students’ Union
The Angami Students’ Union (ASU), in a condemnation note, stated that it is utterly shocked and perturbed by the incident that cost the life of Kezhalelie Lawrence Miasalhou.
It said that at a time when tranquility and brotherhood are prevailing in society, such barbaric acts can never be accepted.
“The Angami Students’ Union vehemently condemns the act of felony by two youths,” it said, adding that the union earnestly appeals the law enforcing agencies to leave no stone unturned in investigating the matter and ensure that justice is delivered on priority.
Furthermore, ASU appealed to all peace loving citizens to stand in solidarity during this time of perplexity and have faith in the law of the land and that the union would extend its utmost support and participation in delivering justice.
Mezoma Welfare Forum
The Mezoma Welfare Forum, in its condemnation note, demanded that law enforcement agencies deliver justice as per the law and expressed shock that, over a minor vehicular traffic issue, the duo not only murdered a law-abiding citizen but also assaulted the son of the deceased who was trying to help his father.
The forum appealed to every right-thinking citizen to denounce and condemn such acts of barbarism. It also prayed that God grant solace to the bereaved family and that the departed soul may rest in peace.
Western Angami Gazetted Officers Krotho
The Western Angami Gazetted Officers Krotho (WAGOK), while condemning the act, stated that taking another human life is an unfathomable tragedy that leaves a scar on the fabric of society.
WAGOK termed it a despicable crime that inflicted immeasurable pain and suffering upon the victims’ loved ones.
“The association stands in solidarity with the bereaved family, offering our heartfelt condolences and unwavering support during this difficult time. No words can adequately express the grief and anguish caused by such a profound loss,” it read.
Further, it called upon the authorities to swiftly and diligently pursue justice for the victim and hold the perpetrators accountable to the fullest extent of the law.
Kiruphema General Council: The Kiruphema General Council (KGC) also strongly condemned the act, stating that Miasalhou was known for his dedicated service and significant contributions to the community.
“His untimely death is a grave loss to the region, and the council expresses its deepest condolences to his family and loved ones,” it said.
Furthermore, the council appealed to all individuals and groups to refrain from interfering with the authorities’ procedures in this matter, noting that it is crucial for the investigative and legal processes to proceed unhindered to achieve justice and maintain order.
