DIMAPUR — Expounding on the necessity to strengthen cultural identity of the Nagas, minister of Road and Bridges, G Kaito Aye, called upon the present generation to shoulder responsibility to carrying forward tradition, culture and indigenous past to the future generation.

He stated this during the 15th Pre-Ahuna festival-cum-cultural competition 2024, organised by Satakha Area Sports and Cultural Association (SASCA) held in Satakha town under Zunheboto district on Tuesday.

The minister lauded the organisers for valuing the identity of the unique past and history and fostering a vision for the future generations by feeding the younger generation with valuable insights about tradition and culture by initiating such events. He also thanked the village chiefs for taking part in the celebration and appealed to the non-participating units to be more enthusiastic in such events, a DIPR report stated.

He asserted that it is the unique history and traditions that bind the people together though being from different villages, areas, clans etc. and added that one should never forget their roots.

Aye further suggested to the organisers that the event should not be a routine each year but look at initiating different items beyond in order to keep the interests and excitements alive in the years to come.

The minister also declared the festival opened and wished the best to all the competitors.

Altogether, 15 units from Satakha area are vying in various traditional, cultural and indigenous activities and games.
