Menuosetuo Yiese is King of the Ring 2021

Kohima, Feb. 27 (EMN): Menuosetuo Yiese on Saturday emerged as the new champion of the invitational Naga WrestlesMania-8 King of the ring championship 2021 held at Naga Solidarity park in Kohima.

22-year-old Yiese, who hails from Kohima village, is 6-feet tall and weighs 130 kg. He is the son of late Khrielatuo Yeise, and is also the reigning Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) open champion.

The champion won two straight bouts against Kezhaseluo-o Pienyu in the final match and lifted the title. He pocketed INR 50, 000 and also won a belt.

While 22-year-old Kezhaseluo-o Pienyu from Kohima village, standing at 6.3 feet and weighing 115 kg was the runner-up. He pocketed INR 30,000.

Kezhavizo Thevo from Chedema village stood third and won INR 15,000 while Seketukho Nipu who hails from Sechu-Zubza stood fourth place and pocketed INR 10,000.

In the semi-final bouts, Kezhaseluo-o Pienyu defeated Kezhavizo Thevo while Menuosetuo Yiese defeated Seketukho Nipu to advance to the finals.

While, the reigning NWA champion Venuzo Dawhuo lost to the new champion Menuosetuo Yiese in the quarter finals.

The event was organised by 3E Nagaland under the aegis of Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) with 20 wrestlers participating in the championship.
