KOHIMA — The Mon Circle Union Kohima (MCUK) celebrated its silver jubilee on Tuesday at the State Academy Hall, Kohima, with W Chingang Konyak, Advisor for DUDA and Geology and Mining, as the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Konyak praised the union’s hard work and dedication and encouraged them to keep up the same spirit in order to achieve more milestones.

He emphasised the importance of preserving culture, language, and identity and urged MCUK members to be hardworking, dedicated, and consistent in order to excel in their goals.

The advisor also released the MCUK jubilee souvenir to commemorate the occasion.

Meanwhile, Yashei Konyak, MCUK founding member, recalled the union’s history and formation, stating that the union began on June 7, 1998, as a small family with few members, mostly home guards, labourers, and students, with a few third and fourth-grade government servants, with Naobo Nyasa as the president.

He highlighted the challenges and difficulties faced by MCUK since its inception and stated that the union’s strength began to improve and grow in 2014.

In his speech, Angnyei, president of Konyak Union Kohima, lauded the accomplishments of MCUK while striving for the welfare of the people.

Nginyeih Konyak, chairperson of the Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW) and retired secretary of the Law and Justice department, Ngamjok Konyak, also spoke at the programme.
