DIMAPUR — A three-day master trainers programme on Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), organised by the Department of Social Welfare, got underway at Mount Tabor Retreat Centre, Kohima, on Thursday.
Secretary of Department of Social Welfare, Martha R Ritse, in here address, elucidated on the Ministry of Women and Child Development’s ECCE curriculum of 2024 for children aged three to six years, which promotes holistic development, play-based learning and the integration of various learning domains, an update stated.
She said that the curriculum encourages the involvement of parents, caregivers, and communities in children’s education. Ritse further pointed out that the initiative aims to provide a strong foundation for every child’s future and called for collective efforts in implementing the curriculum effectively.
This was followed by the training sessions, which will conclude on May 10.
Earlier, the inaugural session was chaired by T Neingusalie, deputy director of Social Welfare department. Director of Social Welfare, Tosheli Zhimomi delivered the welcome address.
