Manipur governor attends international Hindi conference

IMPHAL — Manipur Governor, Anusuiya Uikey, today attended the international Hindi conference held in commemoration of the 115th birth anniversary of a renowned national poet, Late Shri Ramdhari Singh Dinkar at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. It was organized by Vishwa Hindi Parishad, New Delhi.

Addressing the gathering, the governor highlighted the present situation of Manipur and the continuous efforts on relief and rehabilitation for the internally displaced persons (IDP), who have been taking refuge in various relief camps in the state since the ethnic clash started on May 3. She reiterated that initiatives were being taken up by centre and state governments to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur.

Uikey said that Hindi language is one of the oldest languages of the world, which is spoken by millions of people all over the world. Hindi is also one of the six languages that are officially recognised by the United Nations, she added.

The governor further lauded the initiative of Vishwa Hindi Parishad for encouraging the seekers of Hindi language in the spirit of public welfare and to upgrade the language and kept it moving at a steady pace.

“The organisation has been playing its role for the last decade by gathering litterateurs, Hindi officials, employees and the public on one platform and motivating them in the service of Hindi propagation. The council honours the Hindi lovers with national-level awards every year to promote their service to Hindi and appreciate their contribution,” she added.

Dr. Swami Chidanand Maharaj from Parmarth Niketan-Rishikesh, former MP Dr. Arun Kumar; President of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Vinay Bhardwaj; general secretary of VHP, Dr. Bipin Kumar; grandson of Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, Arvind Kumar; and co-convenor of VHP, Deepak Thakur, were also present.
