Longleng, Tuensang observe World Menstrual Hygiene Day

DIMAPUR — Longleng: Longleng district observed ‘World Menstrual Hygiene Day’ with girl students of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Awasiya Vidyalaya Residential Hostel in Longleng town on Tuesday on the theme “Together for a period friendly world.”

The event was organised with an aim to create awareness on the key adolescent health issues which in turn would instill positive behavior in the adolescent.

Dr. Suyimzenla, MO of RBSK, oriented the students about menstrual hygiene and cautioned them against the use of unscientific and unhygienic materials during their menstrual cycle.

Awareness on the importance of menstruation, menstrual hygiene, use of proper disposal of sanitary products were highlighted, which was followed with distribution of sanitary pads.

In another programme, the Tuensang District Health Society (DHS) observed ‘World Menstrual Hygiene Day’ at Wongtsuwung Government Middle School in Tuensang town.

The resource person and GNM of UPHC, Naongsenti, emphasised the importance of menstrual hygiene, personal hygiene and also highlighted to use hygienic materials during menstrual period.

She further advised to drink enough water to avoid bloating/ cramping during period.

The programme concluded with distribution of sanitary pads to all the students.
