Dimapur, Nov. 12 (EMN): Nagaland State Legal Services Authorities (NSLSA) has settled 199 cases amounting to INR 3,78,14,210 during the fourth quarterly National Lok Adalat (NLA) held across Nagaland on November 12.

An update from NSLSA stated that out of 11 Lok Adalat sitting constituted in the 11 district court premises, 799 cases were listed for compromise settlement, which included cases in pending stage as well as in pre-litigation stage mostly in the category of bank recovery, loan recovery and other cases namely public utility (telephone bills). 

In Kohima, a total of 558 pre-litigation and pending cases were put up before the Lok Adalat out of which 38 cases were settled through the Lok Adalat. It stated that an amount of INR 11,71,847 was settled out of the total outstanding amount of INR 22,53,998.

Out of the 38 cases settled, 17 included bank recovery case, 19 BSNL and 1 CDR case. Altogether, 8 banks and 2 BSNL telecom branches attended the National Lok Adalat.

In Longleng, two cases relating to bank recovery amounting to INR 3,08,448 were disposed off, while in Dimapur 52 out of the total 55 cases were settled amounting to INR 2, 20,19,785.

In Zunheboto, a total of 4 bank cases were taken up and disposed off with a settlement amount of INR 18,17,661, while in Mon district, 86 bank cases were taken up out of which 16 cases were disposed off amounting to INR 6,20568.

In Phek district, a total of 26 pre-litigation bank recovery cases were taken up and disposed with a settlement amount of INR 54,04,519, while in Tuensang district, a total of 14 out of 16 cases were disposed off amounting to INR 21,19,443.

In Wokha, 4 out of 5 cases relating to bank recovery were disposed off amounting to INR 4,49,539, while in Mokokchung district, one case was taken up and disposed off amounting to INR 5,00,000.

In Kiphire district, a total of 8 bank recovery loan were taken up out of which 5 cases were disposed off amounting to INR 4,93,500, while in Peren, a total of 37 out of 38 cases were disposed off amounting to INR 29,08,900.
