Kohima, Dec. 16 (EMN): President of Ura Academy, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu, has encouraged the younger generations to put in more efforts in writing and bring out more publications in the interest of Ura Academy and to preserve the rich cultural heritage and history.
Speaking at the 51st seminar at Ura Academy Hall in Kohima on December 16 stated that Ura Academy, being a mature organisation, its members should think and act maturely. The seminar was an attempt to discuss how best it could promote and preserve Tenyidie language.
Pointing out that literary and vocabulary skills are usually found in poems, he urged the stakeholders to organise programmes and expose one’s talents and at the same time encourage and motivate one another.
Liezietsu expressed concern on the diminishing number of speakers- speaking Tenyidie, despite the language being taken up at the university level as a subject where PhD degrees were even being conferred. In this regard, he stressed on the need to preserve the language.
Nagaland being a diverse state with different tribes and languages with no common language, he said Tenyidie is widely spoken among the Tenyimia communities. He, therefore, urged the participants to make an effort to promote the language.
The vice president of Ura Academy, Daso Paphino, stressed on the need to be careful in translation and mindful of words in usage.
A novel titled “A Puo Kekhrie” written by Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu, which was first published in Tenyidie in 1992 and the translated version in English ‘Father’s Love’ was released by Prof. D Kuolie on the occasion.
