LEH felicitates elected women councilors of WTC

WOKHA — The Lotha Eloe Hoho (LEH) on Friday organised a felicitation programme for the elected women councilors of Wokha Town Council (WTC) at Lotha Hoho conference hall.

The special guest of the event, Dr. Apeni Kithan, retired director of Higher Education, congratulated the women representatives of WTC. She expressed that women need to play an active role and participate in policy-making for equal representation.

She also acknowledged the government of Nagaland for accommodating and providing a platform for women in local self government and Nagaland political field recently, which according to her is a reflection of progressive society.

She advised the five elected women representatives to uphold the principles and ethics with true sense of leadership and urged them to perform their duty with dignity. She added that women are second to none in all spheres and expressed confidence that their participation would transform the society.

Motivational speaker and associate professor at Mt. Tiyi College, Wokha, Dr. Rosanna Kikon, called upon the elected women leaders to explore their multi-tasking skills by outsourcing their strengths for effective management and governance of WTC.

Mhondamo Ovung, chairman of Lotha Hoho, emphasised the important role of women and highlighted various responsible assignments held by women in the world. He encouraged the elected women representatives to be transparent in the governance and perform their duty with selfless dedication for the uplift of the community.

Nzano P Kikon, speaking on behalf of the elected councilors, has sought ideas and encouragement. She stated that contribution of thoughts and ideas could help the representatives to perform their duty well.

While assuring to work for the community without comprising, she has sought prayer support for wisdom from the congregation.

The five elected women representatives of WTC namely Nzano P Kikon, Thungchano Kikon, Nzanbeni Humtsoe, Y Renthunglo Kikon and Lily T Humtsoe were honoured at the event.

The programme was chaired by Thungbeni Ngullie, president of LEH, while an invocation prayer was said by Nzubeni Patton, advisor of LEH. The event culminated with a vote of thanks delivered by Wonchibeni Patton, general secretary of LEH, and the benediction was said by Loseno Ovung, advisor of LEH.

KMC holds felicitation programme

A felicitation-cum-coordination meeting of the councilors and staff of the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) was held at the Capital Convention Centre on Friday.

The event was chaired by T Lanusenla Longkumer, KMC administrator, who also delivered the welcome address.

The invocation prayer was said by Ketholelie Seletsu, accountant of KMC, and the brief history and overview of KMC was delivered by Zakiekhotuo Kiso, office secretary, stated a DIPR report.

Speeches were also delivered by Neikhozo Suokhrie, KMC chairperson, and Khrielevi Chüsi, deputy chairperson.

The event also saw sharing of insights from Vimhalie Pienyü, councilor of Ward 5, and Aneiü Khaming, councilor of Ward 16. They have shared their perspectives on the council’s future initiatives and community engagement strategies.
