Law students told to sensitise people on importance of law
DIMAPUR — Observing that respect for law is lacking in Naga society, advisor of Law and Justice and Land Revenue, TN Mannen, stated that the onus to sensitise the importance of law to the people lies in the hands of law students.
Mannen stated this during the 45th annual freshers meet of Kohima Law College Students’ Union as the special guest on Friday at the Red Cross conference hall in Kohima. He stated that without law, society will be chaotic, stated a press release issued by private secretary to the advisor.
He encouraged the students to stay focused on building a strong foundation in core subjects like contracts, torts and constitutional law. He also asked them to explore legal journals, articles and online resources to broaden their knowledge while collaborating with peers to discuss topics, share insights and learn from each other.
He advised them to approach professors, mentors or peers for guidance and stay updated on legal news by following legal development, judgement and current events. He also encouraged them to engage in moot courts, debates and legal aid clinics to develop practical skills.
The advisor further emphasised on building relationships by connecting with peers, professors and legal professionals to build a strong network.
“Do not try to become a mediocre law graduate but stay focused and strive to be the best among your peers through healthy competition because there is always room at the top for the hard workers,” he stated.
