DIMAPUR — Landowners and affected villages of Doyang Hydro Power Station in Wokha have requested Nagaland government to re-establish the office of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) at Doyang.

In a letter addressed to the chief secretary, the “Land Owners’ Union and the Affected Villages of Doyang Hydro Power Station (DHPS)” in Wokha stated that the state government had initially established an administrative headquarter temporarily headed by an ADC at Doyang Hydro-Electric Plant (now Doyang Hydro Power Station) on October 6, 1986.

Besides full administrative, judicial, and revenue collection power, the ADC was empowered to deal with law and order problems, land acquisition, “settlement of land issues, and problems of the 17 land-affected villages”, it stated.

However, the state government discontinued the posting of ADC at DHPS in 1997. In this regard, the Wokha District Planning & Development Board (DP&DB) “recommended the revival of the Additional Development Commissioner (ADC-Planning) as a full administrative HQ for effective governance in and around the catchment area of Doyang Township” on August 9, 2018, it stated.

Accordingly, the landowners and the affected villages appealed to the chief secretary to “revive the posting of ADC Office, Doyang.”
