DIMAPUR — Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Peren celebrated the 50th anniversary of KVKs with a ‘torch prayan’ on June 7.
In addition to the celebration, a training programme focusing on nutrition-gardening and development took place at the KVK Peren office in Jalukie town, according to a press release.
Dr. Patu Khate, assistant chief technical officer (ACTO) (plant breeding and genetics), chaired the programme, and Dr. K L Meena, principal scientist and head of KVK Peren, delivered the welcome address, according to a press release.
Z James Kikon, chief technical officer (Soil Science), and Dr. Patu Khate, ACTO (plant breeding and genetics), provided insights discussing the significance of celebrating the golden jubilee and emphasising the importance of nutritional gardens for ensuring nutritional security.
Dr. Sandeep Deshmukh, senior scientist and head of KVK Wokha, was also in attendance at the event.
Following the programme, the distribution of inputs such as small-scale farming tools and vegetable seeds took place, benefiting the 25 farmers who were invited to participate in the celebration.
