KVK Dimapur conducts potato seed distribution programme
DIMAPUR — During a programme held at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Dimapur conference hall on Thursday, ten tonnes of potato seeds (Kufri Jyoti) were distributed to various self-help groups, progressive farmers, and farmers’ societies from three districts—Chümoukedima, Niuland, and Dimapur.
According to a press release, the potato seeds were distributed by KVK Dimapur, ICAR, Nagaland centre, as part of the ICAR-IARI, New Delhi NEH component.
Dr. Homeswar Kalita, head of the regional centre, ICAR Nagaland, encouraged farmers on the occasion to cultivate potatoes sincerely using the recommended package of practices, while Kevin Solo, the sub-divisional agriculture officer (SDAO) of Chümoukedima district, informed the farmers of the department’s various schemes and said that assistance could be provided to genuine and sincere farmers after careful examination of the submitted applications.
T Honito Sema, BJP mandal president of 5 Ghaspani 2, lauded the efforts of KVK Dimapur and the ICAR Nagaland centre for the upliftment of the farming community and added that both departments and farmers must work honestly for the benefit of all.
In the technical session, Dr. Roben Singh discussed the cultivation practices to be adopted for potatoes.
Dr. Bendangla Imsong presided over the programme, and Dr. Moanaro proposed the vote of thanks. KVK, Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) officials, and 70 progressive farmers attended the programme.
