Kuda village ‘A’ khel celebrates platinum jubilee
DIMAPUR — Kuda village ‘A’ khel celebrated its 75th anniversary (platinum jubilee) at Jotsoma community hall, Kuda village ‘A’ on Thursday.
The celebration began with the unveiling of the jubilee monolith by Rev. Savito Nagi, president of the Angami Baptist Church Council (ABCC), along with Thejazelhou Peseyie, youngest son of Lt. Dr. Üzelie Peseyie, who unveiled the pioneer’s monolith, an update stated.
The guest speaker, Nibu Nagi, proprietor of NN Nagi School and prominent businessman, shared the history of Kuda village ‘A’ khel, reflected on the village’s growth over the years and expressed hope for continued unity, peace and prosperity. In a special tribute, Nagi honoured late Dr. Üzielie Peseyie, one of the pioneers of Kuda ‘A’ khel and one of the first educated among the Nagas.
According to the special guest, late Dr. Peseyie studied in Shillong and during his school days, he traveled on foot from Kohima to Dimapur.
Upon his return to the village, he encouraged his fellow villagers with a vision for the future, recognising the economic opportunities in the Dimapur area and encouraging villagers to settle there. This vision led to the founding of the Jotsoma Farmer’s Cooperative Society in 1963, Nagi said.
Noting that the anniversary would be remembered for years to come, he congratulated the elders of Kuda ‘A’ khel for their contributions for the uplift of the village. Nagi further encouraged the gathering to continue living in unity and peace as they celebrate the milestone.
The programme was chaired by Vikie Nagi, chairman of Kuda village, while an invocation prayer was said by Vizieto Nagi and the welcome address was delivered by Neingusie Nagi, convener of the planning committee.
Kelezhalie Nagi, pastor of Seithekiema ‘A’ Baptist Church, released the jubilee souvenir.
On the occasion, greetings were delivered by head GB Thepfuko Nagi, Deacon Khrieselie Nakhro and assistant commissioner, Commissioner’s Office, Kohima, Kelevituo Nisa.
Song were performed by the youth of Kuda ‘A’ khel and staff from NN Nagi School.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Khrienilie Nagi and concluded with a benediction said by Prof. Rokoneituo Nakhro.
