Kohima Open Volleyball Tournament postponed to Nov. 1

KOHIMA — The 11th Kohima Open Volleyball Tournament (Men and Women) under the aegis Kohima District Volleyball Association (KDVA) has been postponed from October 30 to November 1.

The tournament will be held at Hockey Ground, Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, on the theme “Transcending through sports,” stated an update.

Kethosituo Sekhose, Director, Youth Resources and Sports, will attend the inaugural function as the special guest. Roko Angami, a former international football player and presently OSD (Sports), Department of Youth Resources and Sports, will be the special guest at the closing ceremony.

The association invites all interested teams, clubs, and enthusiastic players from within and outside the state to join the tournament. Forms are available at Sports World in Kohima and Star Sports, BOC Kohima.

The KDVA has informed that the prize money has been enhanced for this edition. In the men’s category, the champion will receive INR 1 lakh, the runner-up INR 50,000, and the losing semi-finalists INR 15,000 each.

In the women’s category, the champion will receive INR 60,000, the runner-up INR 30,000, and the losing semi-finalists INR 10,000 each.

Individual awards will also be presented for both categories. The best setter will receive INR 5,000 each, and the best spiker will receive INR 5,000 each.
