Kohima, Oct. 6 (EMN): Kezhazer Whuorie took over charge as the new president of Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) during a taking and handing over ceremony held on October 6.

Whuorie expressed gratitude for reposing faith on him and his new team of office bearers for the tenure 2022-25 to look after their affairs. He also congratulated the outgoing KCCI executive team for successfully completing their tenure and bringing the association thus far despite difficulties due to COVID-19 pandemic.

As they prepare to inherit a good record made by the outgoing executives, he expressed hope that the new team would follow suit successfully during their tenure. Despite being a fresh businessman, Whuorie, who has also been actively involved in student organisations, pledged that they would give their best for the interest of KCCI and citizens of Kohima town.

Medozhatuo Rutsa, KCCI outgoing president, stated that they maintain a good relationship with the district administration, Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) among others and play an important role to uplift the image of the capital city.

Briefing on some of the vital activities left to be carried out, he assured of their support and assistance to the new team. He also acknowledged his colleagues for their cooperation for whatever little things they have achieved during their tenure.

The outgoing KCCI general secretary, Akhrie Mor, while reading out the meeting records, informed how they attended a joint meeting with KMC for the Hornbill Night Carnival in 2019 and first co-ordination committee for COVID-19 Central Kitchen at DC’s chamber on May 28, 2020.

She also informed that they were part of a sanitation and waste management meeting held at DC’s chamber on September 11, 2019, and trade license fee-revision on May 30, 2020, with KMC etc.
