DIPHU: President of Karbi Cultural Society (KCS), Chondrosing Kro said the KCS leaders met President of India Droupadi Murmu during the Elephant Festival at Kohora on Friday (April 7) to extend their invitation to inaugurate the golden jubilee celebration of Karbi Youth Festival (KYF) in February next year.
In a press conference held at KCS central committee office at Taralangso on Saturday, Kro said, “On April 7, getting the information that the President of India Droupadi Murmu is participating in the two-day Elephant Festival held at Kaziranga, we have gone to meet her at Kohora police guest house and conveyed to her about our invitation to grace as the chief guest to inaugurate the 50th KYF in February, 2024. The President has accepted our invitation and given her consent to grace the occasion as an inaugurator for the 50th KYF.”
‘There is still time and if everything works as planned then the people of Karbi Anglong will be very much pleased to receive the President as the chief guest for the 50th KYF commemoration,’ Kro said.
