Diphu, June 21 (EMN): Karbi Anglong observed the 8th International Yoga Day (IYD) along with the rest of the world.

In Diphu town, various institutions, organisations and political parties observed IYD by organising yoga sessions and speeches on the importance of yoga for physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing.

At Karbi Anglong Sports Association (KASA) stadium, the IYD was jointly organised by Kreeda Bharati; Nehru Yuva Kendra, Diphu; KASA; Karbi Anglong Mountaineering Association (KAMA) and District Administration; Chief Executive Member (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang and other elected members of KAAC and the general public attended the yoga session.

BJP-East Karbi Anglong District Committee office members also observed the IYD. President, BJP-EKADC, Dhansing Teron; MLA Bidyasing Engleng and Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) Amarsing Tisso and Madhuram Lekthe along with party workers participated in the yoga session conducted in the morning. 

MLA Engleng said the yoga day is observed internationally by various countries. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has initiated to celebrate the International Yoga Day to bring consciousness among people on physical, mental and spiritual wellness of a person through yoga. Knowing the values of yoga on physical, mental and spiritual benefits, 86 countries are celebrating the International Yoga Day today, he said.

To maintain physical activeness, mental stability and spiritual wellbeing one must perform yoga steps every day, Engleng said.
