KAMSFC defeat Kenkre FC in I-League 3 Group D match
DIMAPUR — On the first day of the I-League 3 Group D matches at the Karbi Anglong Sports Association (KASA) Stadium in Diphu, Karbi Anglong Morning Star FC (KAMSFC) defeated the visiting Kenkre FC from Mumbai 3-1.
As the whistle blew, the visitors quickly took the lead, with Zimik (Kenkre) scoring just 5 minutes into the match. KAMSFC’s goalkeeper, Gojen Hanse, attempted to push the ball over his head but missed, allowing it to roll into the net.
KAMSFC, however, launched an attacking spree and quickly equalised with a goal from Robinson Khongsai. By the end of the first half, the home team had scored three goals. Robinson Khongsai added another goal, and Kevisanyii scored the other.
At half-time, KAMSFC led 3-1. In the second half, both teams made substitutions to bring in fresh players, but neither side managed to score. At the end of the 90 minutes, the final score was 3-1 in favour of KAMSFC.
The match was attended by Tuliram Ronghang, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) and president of KASA; MP Amarsing Tisso; Dr. Sangrang Brahma, general secretary of the Assam Football Association; along with other sports officials and dignitaries.
Following the match, KAMSFC manager Waisong Bey praised the team for their strong performance and thanked the fans and crowd for their wholehearted support.
Earlier, in the inaugural match played in the afternoon, Bhuna FC from Haryana and Jaipur Elite FC played to a thrilling 1-1 draw.
KAMSFC’s next match is on September 7 against Jaipur Elite. For the tournament, the next matches are scheduled for September 5: Klasa FC vs Bhuna FC in the afternoon and Jaipur Elite vs Kenkre FC in the evening.
Five teams are competing in the group stage: Kenkre FC (Mumbai), Jaipur Elite (Jaipur), Bhuna FC (Haryana), Klasa FC (Manipur), and KAMSFC.
