  • DIMAPUR — The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)-National Research Centre (NRC) on Mithun, Nagaland, in collaboration with ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute Eastern Regional Station (NDRI ERS), Karnal, organised a one-day training programme and input distribution under the Scheduled Castes Sub Plan on Monday at Chandanpur village, Birbhum district, West Bengal.

  • According to an update, as part of the initiative, 100 live female Black Bengal goats were distributed to 100 Scheduled Caste (SC) farmers, particularly women, to support their livelihoods through sustainable goat farming.

  • Experts on the occasion also delivered lectures on scientific breeding and management of goats, equipping farmers with essential knowledge for improved animal husbandry practices.

  • Goats were also vaccinated and ear-tagged with the help of ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute Eastern Regional Station staff. The farmers expressed their gratitude to the director, ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun, for this valuable support and showed great enthusiasm towards the conservation and upkeep of Black Bengal goats for livelihood enhancement.
