Implement ILP, RIIN immediately, says Nagaland senior citizens
DIMAPUR— The Senior Citizens’ Association Nagaland (SCAN) has expressed the need to immediately streamline and strictly implement ILP and the Register of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland (RIIN), in view of the possibility of Nagaland facing a similar issue like in Tripura if the influx of immigrants remains unchecked.
In a press release, the SCAN said that December 1 1963 should be the cut-off date to qualify as a permanent resident of the state and that the place of registration as indigenous inhabitants should be made in their respective recognised village and not in the place residence.
It added that authentication should be left to the village councils and children of non-Naga fathers as well as non-Naga children adopted by Naga parents shouldn’t be given ST/BT/indigenous certificates.
