ICAR KVK Longleng celebrates golden jubilee of KVKs

DIMAPUR — The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Longleng marked 50 years of service to agriculture and rural development on Thursday, celebrating the ICAR KVKs’ golden jubilee.

According to a press release, the celebration was held at the KVK Longleng campus and included speeches and a visual presentation of the Longleng centre’s journey over the decades.

It was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Longleng Dharam Raj, head of ICAR (RC) NEH Region, Nagaland Centre Dr. Homeswar Kalita, senior scientist and head, KVK Longleng Dr. Hari Charan Kalita, senior scientist and head, KVK Mokokchung Dr. Keviletsu Khate, along with staff of KVK Longleng Shubhendu Kumar Behera (SMS, Plant Pathology), Dr. Kalu Ram (SMS, Fruit Science), Kumari Pallavi (SMS, Home Science), Chinglak Phom (stenographer), the chairman, village leaders, and farmers.

The DC and Dr. Homeswar Kalita both delivered speeches emphasising the importance of KVK’s role in empowering farmers, fostering agricultural research, and contributing to the region’s overall development. Dr. Hari Charan Kalita presented the journey of KVK Longleng and outlined the vision for the centre’s future developmental plans.

Hari Charan also officially passed the torch to KVK Mokokchung.
