DIMAPUR — The GPRN/NSCN, led by President Maj. (Retd.) RM Lotha and Ato Kilonser N Kitovi Zhimomi, organised a felicitation ceremony on Monday at 5th Mile, Chümoukedima, to honour Hokato Hotozhe Sema, who brought laurels to the country by winning a bronze medal in the men’s shot put F57 category at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.
The ceremony highlighted Hokato’s inspirational journey and his remarkable achievement on the international stage, which has filled the Indian nation and the Nagas of Nagaland, in particular, with pride, stated a press release.
Kitovi, on the occasion, acknowledged Hokato’s exceptional contribution to the Nagas and highlighted how Dr. Talimeren Ao captained the Indian football team in the London 1948 Olympics and brought laurels to the country. Since then, the Nagas have waited for 75 long years, until, in the 76th year, Hokato brought not only victory but also a good name to the entire Naga nation.
Stating that Hokato’s exemplary success at the Paris Paralympic Games is a great example for the younger generation of Nagas to follow, the release maintained that if young Nagas are provided with proper infrastructure and facilities by the state government, then surely there will be more individuals like Dr. Ao and Hokato among the youth, competing and participating not only at the national level but also on the international stage.
The release added that the event was attended by political cabinet members, Naga Army officers, kilonsers, and heads of departments from all departments.
