HFW officials assess functioning of health services in Zunheboto
DIMAPUR — The commissioner and secretary of Health and Family Welfare (HFW) department, Anoop Khinchi, undertook an official visit to Zunheboto district on October 19.
According to an update from district media officer, Zunheboto, Khinchi was accompanied by Dr. Kikameren Longkumer, joint director of HFW; Dr. J Hokugha Sema, deputy director of HFW, and Dr. Alemwapang Aier, state programme officer (NCD).
During the visit, the commissioner and secretary conducted a brief inspection of the ongoing construction of the District Hospital. He also visited the offices of the chief medical officer (CMO) and district hospital to assess their functioning.
Following the inspections, a joint meeting of the department and the district administration was held at the District Hospital conference hall.
During the meeting, the district officials highlighted the performances, key challenges and issues related to health infrastructure and workforce shortages in various health centres.
The officials emphasised the need for immediate intervention from the state government to address those concerns.
The deputy commissioner of Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali, urged the commissioner and secretary to prioritise the development of the Aspirational block, Akuhaito, to ensure the district meets all key performance indicators (KPI) and achieves full saturation of health services.
The deputy chief medical officer, Dr. Antoly Suu, provided an overview of the health sector’s status through a powerpoint presentation, detailing the current state of the district’s health services.
The meeting was attended by the district health officials, medical officers and staff from the CMO and District Hospital.
In addition, a separate meeting with civil society organisations was held with the commissioner and secretary and state officials to address the land ownership issues concerning the present district hospital.
